Who Was Here?

"Waiting for the Interurban," by Richard Beyer in Fremont, WA with added scarf by an unknown individual.

Driving around Seattle earlier this week, I saw a scarf wrapped around a popular sculpture in Fremont that looked suspiciously like the one that belongs to Doctor number 4.  Being a fan of Doctor Who, seeing this immediately cheered me up!  It has been very cold here the past couple of days, so I think it may have also been some comment about the weather as well.  It was an awesome site to see.  The Doctor will take care of you!

Now who wrapped up these people waiting?  Was it the Doctor himself?

I also saw something else pretty neat that same day.  Here is a big hint: click here to see! :)  I really wish I could have taken a photo, but it was going one direction, and I was driving the opposite way.  I could not help but smile when I saw it.

A Gift for a Hott Valentine? or a White Elephant?

I was at the gas station, when out of the corner of my eye, I saw the word "Tabasco."  Being a fan of Tabasco sauce, I looked to see what the product was.  "'McIlhenny Co.Tabasco Brand Spicy Chocolate?'  Weird..."  I thought.  Then later, I went back and bought some.  I like Tabasco, I like chocolate.  I should like Tabasco Chocolate.

I came home with three small pieces.  I guess normally the product is sold in large, round tins, I must have bought the "fun size."  After listening and reading some reviews, I wondered if I had made a mistake.  One reviewer said, "It tastes like charcoal."  He said it was spicy, but did not taste like chocolate.  Maybe I had a different batch.

I opened the package, and carefully put a small part of the piece in my mouth.  It had some heat, like Tabasco always does.  The chocolate had a nice flavor, and it was definitely dark chocolate.  It tasted real fresh, and nice.  Spicy chocolate.  Yummy.  I give it 4 or 5 out of 5 stars.

I was also thinking, since it is Valentine's Day tomorrow, that you could buy some of these, put them on a paper heart, that says, "You're Hott, Valentine!"  Then, give them to that special someone, or maybe some random hottie.  No?  Oh well, it was worth suggesting.

Another product I tried recently was the "Slushy Magic."  I found it at the store, and was abnormally excited, like a little kid, over this.  I had not seen the commercials or any reviews, but the box made it seem cool.  After I brought it home, I felt a bit of buyer's remorse.  It comes with a cup, a lid, a spoon-straw, and what looks like ice-cube shaped implants!

I decided to go on YouTube, to maybe see the commercial for this item I purchased, and the first one I found was a kid showing how to use the product.  He gave really good information on how to use the product.  Like, you may want a towel nearby.  He did not have one in his video, but he was sure right about that.  The lid does have a small hole in it, but that is not the problem.  The lid for the cup, does not seal enough to keep the liquid from running out on the sides!  I find that to be a terrible design!  Another thing, was when he was done, he took the "magic cubes" out, and showed how much slushy it actually makes.  I was immediately disappointed about that.  It only winds up being 1/3-1/2 of the cup itself, which is hardly worth the effort.  I was also disappointed with the texture.  From the photo, it seems like the ice would have a fine texture, like a regular slushy.  I found mine to be rather chunky.  I also found the flavor rather tasteless.  I figured since no real ice-cubes were added, that at least the flavor would be stronger.  I was wrong.  I had watched other videos of people reviewing this product, and it was obvious that they did not follow the directions.  Some of them did not freeze the "magic cubes" all the way, so they did not get it very "slushy."  They also did not shake it long enough.  I did do mine right, I was just disappointed in it.  The next day, I tried the same thing, but with a blender.  I still did not quite get the results I wanted, but it was much closer to it than the "Slushy Magic" could ever do.  This might be a fun gift for a kid to do, but for an adult, I can only rate it 1 out of 5 stars.

Here is the kid's demonstration and review that I watched on YouTube.  He is awesome.  I give him 5 out of 5 stars.

A review of my 2012

Headed for the open door... by jackie-s-eyeslikeacat featuring printed tote bags

Goodbye 2012... Last year was not my best year.  About this time last year, my seasonal job had ended, and I was continuing to look for work, which I eventually found.  Then, I wound up having to change jobs again, only to wind up back at the place that had laid me off less than a year before.  At least I am doing something different, and I actually quite like being able to drive around to various places in Seattle.

This past year I was introduced to two Internet sites, one being Pinterest, the other being Polyove.  Pinterest is like a online virtual bulletin board, where you can "pin" photos with links to things that interest you, for others to see, and "repin" themselves.  Polyvore is a site that lets you do kind of a scrapbook collage of various items from stores and other websites.  My most popular pin has been for a recipe called, Cheesy Potato Casserole (aka: Funeral Potatoes) a recipe by Ore-Ida.  It is very good, you should try it if you haven't already.  I made the casserole for Easter, then was asked to do the same dish again at my parent's place,  for Christmas.

My most popular Polyvore collage from 2012 is called, "Headed for the Open Door."  I was challenged to come up with a set using lyrics from one of my favorite songs as the title, then put an asterisk next to what I preferred over the other in a list that was tagged with it.  It turned out quite fun, I think.

I learned how to make strawberry freezer jam and cook in a Crock-Pot.  I started a regular exercise routine, I ate more sensibly.  I was no longer able to attend book club, but I continued to read, unfortunately, not as much, since I have been terribly busy and/or too tired.  One of my favorite T.V. programs was cancelled, so I cancelled my cable.  I don't really miss it.  Sometimes I even forget that I have cancelled it.  Some other favorite things of mine are listed below:

Favorite song of 2012:  "We Come Running" by Youngblood Hawke.
My most listened to CD in 2012:  A classic album, Firefall's Greatest Hits, along with a separate bought mp3 of "Strange Way," since that particular song is so chopped up on the Greatest Hits album, seriously, why did they do that?
My favorite cold beverage of 2012:  Chocolate Italian Sodas, that I made myself, at home.
My favorite hot beverage of 2012:  Peppermint Hot Chocolate from McDonald's.
Favorite holiday indulgence:  Cranberry Bliss from Starbucks and a cute Snowman Sugar Cookie from Starbucks as well, which is the best sugar cookie I have ever eaten!

Pictured above: a Snowman Sugar Cookie by Starbucks, and look at the cute packaging it came in!

One of my major accomplishments of this year:  Giving my sister a baby shower with only 2 weeks to plan it!  If you are a friend of hers, or a relative of ours that did not get invited, I am sorry, I meant to invite you!  It was very rushed, and I may not have had your info.  I don't advise anyone to plan and throw a baby shower within two weeks during the holiday season.  It was stressful, but it turned out to be a great time!  I made that Ducky Baby Shower Punch that I first saw on Pinterest.  It turned out very delicious!  I made Mountain Dew Cupcakes, because my sister loves Mountain Dew.  She had made the cupcakes quite awhile before me, and did a vlog on making them, so I thought she would like that.  I also made some Ginger Jedi & Sugar Stormtroopers, since she is supposed to be due May 4th (May the 4th be with you/ May the force be with you), and happens to be a huge Star Wars fan.

Favorite board game of 2012:  Telestrations!  I won this game at the party I made the ugly sweater for!  I did not win the ugly sweater contest, but I won this awesome game during another game we played.  We played it at my sister's baby shower, towards the end of the evening, and it was hilarious!

Overall, I guess last year was not so bad.  Though I am looking forward to moving on.  Let us hope next year brings everyone much happiness and joy!  Hope you have a great 2013!  Happy New Year!
